With wide, long beaches and good wind speeds, Al Gharbia makes an ideal venue for watersports. The Watersports Festival held in May 2009 takes advantage of Al Gharbia’s stunning 350 km stretch of natural coast line.
Join the huge kiteboarding community and show off your best moves or just relax and watch them ride the wind and the waves. The beach faces North/North-West and is exposed mostly to North-Westerly winds. Although pretty good rides can also be enjoyed during the times when the wind is coming from the North-East. The 10-15 km/h winds allow riding on very flat water along the breakwater.
