Ruwais is an industrial city comprising staff from all over the world. They live in residential units dominated by the building style of the seventies and characterized by its streets lined by trees, spacious villas and residential buildings.
Ruwais lies a few kilometers away from oil refineries, power and desalination plants. It provides all the amenities and infrastructure essential for the living workforce. There are primary and secondary schools, clinics, hospitals, library, theater, bowling court, and football field. All this helps the population there to be very social and active. Ruwais includes an amazing set of stores and supermarkets which provide clothing, electrical equipment and house supplies as well as a bank, a call center, a post office, cafes, restaurants and a bakery.
The means of transportation are available and affordable in Ruwais, where buses regularly pass back and forth to Dubai and to other areas in Abu Dhabi, in addition, of course, to the taxis available for urgent transportations and to any destination. Though Ruwais is seen as a center for oil and gas industry in Al Gharbia and a historical destination for those working in these sectors and their families, but the city is moving today to diversification in the sectors of construction and agriculture, making it one of the fastest growing communities in Al Gharbia.

Ghayathi, originally a Bedouin sttlement, is now known for its agriculture and lush pastures. Fossils dating to eight million years ago have been found in the area.
