According to government efforts to ensure a better way of life for residents ofAl Gharbia, the state provides stable utilities and infrastructure, such as education, medical, and welfare services and housing. In this respect, AED 98 billion was invested into infrastructure projects, tourism and economic development in the region, all of which received considerable support since the establishment of the Western Region Development Council. Such support is beginning to reflect within the education and health care sectors, which are already witnessing a remarkable development in recent years.
The aim of the economic and social development of the region's population and the promotion of investment and commercial projects is to raise the standard of living for the region’s population. These efforts will also contribute to moving forward in developing infrastructure, including roads, rail and aviation networks to connect Al Gharbia with an effective transportation network to facilitate access to it by those wishing to visit, live, work or invest.

Ghayathi, originally a Bedouin sttlement, is now known for its agriculture and lush pastures. Fossils dating to eight million years ago have been found in the area.
